I was so excited to see my career portrayed in a positive light yesterday in the President’s speech on education. He mentioned writing as a career option. I’ve pasted that part of the text of Obama’s education speech over at About.com.

YES! I, for one, am so thrilled to have a president that our young people can look up to as a role model.

The naysayers have forgotten how important it is to have strong, healthy, role models. As far as presidents go, I don’t think we’ve had a good role model since Jimmy Carter! But, that’s just my humble opinion.

Thanks for sharing this uplifting news, Allena. I miss the broadcast trying to get ready for my students. Will catch it on YouTube.
