    freelance writer goals

Wow. It’s the Sunday before the kidlets return to school and I got nothing. Not a list of goals, not a business plan, not a fully fleshed out marketing plan, and not even a well-organized desk.

But, wait, I do have something. Yes, there is something there…

I got a nice break, in which I went to ski resort and enjoyed my family. I got long term project ready to be done tomorrow, I got a regular client who sends a steady paycheck for which I am eternally grateful, and I got a nice rest, in which I slept til 11 most days, and worked on my novel most midnights.

So dear writer and client, what exactly IS up with GardenWall Publications in 2009?

    • My two ongoing clients, CE and About.com will continue.
    • I will continue and finish two temporary copy projects of which I am in the middle, and, after that, you will find a strict cut down in the amount of copy projects I take on. Those that I accept will be directly and only related to things that I am VERY interested in- namely education and non profits/humanitarian aid.
    • I will foray much more heavily into editorial work.
    • I will (eventually) create passive income through my translation services.
    • I will create passive income through this and one other blog.
    • I will concentrate on pitching magazines.
    • I will finish my novel, to a point, up to this Summer, and then complete it totally this summer while I am in Mexico.
    • I will begin a non-fiction project that is pressing on me.

    Goal problem solved!

Thanks for wading through it with me.

Good luck with your goals this year Allena. 🙂

And I’m completely jealous of being able to sleep in until 11! Even on break, my body refused to let me stay in bed past 9. 🙂
