• The Requisite Look Back

As I mentioned over at About.com, Freelance Parent definitely “called it” when they said that the blogosphere is full of lookbacks and goal-setting.

So, I dug up some goals and etc. from last January to see how I did. Take a look:

    1) In 2008 I will make as much as I did in my full time job. Darned close, but close only counts in…well, you know. Now, on the other hand, I did get a really plum job in November that is likely to help me meet and exceed this goal in 2009. In addition, since my husband got a raise, the need for my income isn’t as sharp.

    2) In 2008 I will finish my novel. No again. Why did I make this goal though? I know/knew I needed one more trip to Mexico to finish my novel (where the setting is). We’re in the planning stages of that, now.

    3) In 2008 I will pitch new print magazines at least once a month. Once a month? Nope. In general, yes. And got printed in some of them!

    4) In 2008 I will accept and complete at least one speaking obligation. Yes. With two more coming up in January and February.

    5) In 2008 I will take at least two professional development classes. Yup.

Not bad, if I do say so myself. Feel free to share your writing goals.

One Responseso far.

Congratulations on coming so close to meeting your goals! I wish I could say I feel as satisfied with my results. I managed to make my income goals, but they were pretty low since I still have a day job. My goals of nailing down three regular clients didn’t pan out as well. On a positive note, though, I found one regular client who is a delight to work for. There’s always something to be happy about, huh?
