• Two Ways To Get Known

Part of working on the internet is finding a way to stand out from the masses (oh, and trust me, I’m talking plenty). The more potential clients see my name (such as my #1 rank in Google for “freelance writer”), the more business I get. But, I also have to get other freelance writers to know me, so that they read my column at About.com (www.freelancewrite.about.com), helping me all the more (at least with that particular contract).

One way to do this is to frequent the places other freelance writers frequent. Blogs, websites, forums. etc. (Blogs are their own little world. Heck, even Martha Stewart blogs, and that woman knows how to turn a dollar!)

The same issue (getting known) is current for authors. Today, you can’t just write a good book and expect it to be published. Nope, you need a platform. You need a convincing marketing plan that tells a publisher WHY and HOW you’re going to sell that book.

Christina Katz, who is an excellent resource and authority on freelance and book writing, is releasing a new book in November on this very subject. Today she is running an Amazon SPIKE Campaign (driving up the new book’s rank), and in exchange for ordering, she’s offering freebies over at her blog.
